Appraisals

When a claim of property loss has been undervalued, an appraisal provision in the policy may allow for alternative dispute resolution through the appraisal process. To help determine a fair assessment of the damages incurred, this process involves both parties - the policy holder and their insurance company.

Both parties hire independent appraisers, of their choice, at their own expense. Each appraiser evaluates the loss in an attempt to reach a mutual agreement on the scope of repairs required. Appraisals can be a beneficial alternative to costly litigation that can potentially lead to a more equitable resolution for both parties.

The significant advantage of utilizing our appraisal services is our knowledge of the insurance claims process and our experiences working in the field. While the appraisal process offers a relatively faster and less costly alternative to resolving disputes compared to pursuing litigation, there is the possibility of disagreement between the two appraisers hired by the homeowner and the insurance company. In such instances, an umpire, typically a neutral third party, is brought in to make a final decision.
